Youth camp in Lithuania: non-formal activities and participation

Nov 15, 2023 | Local Activities

You can educate younger people and promote a culture of respect, civic engagement, participation and European literacy through fun and innovative activities.

This is the case of the activities carried out as part of the youth camp promoted by the Lithuanian partner, which chose to involve a very young target audience (13 years and older) supported by qualified facilitators and youth workers.

In order to look for new inspiration for energy and motivation on 14th-15th October, 2023 Marijampole youth club DIMERA organised weekend youth camp in Zuvintas biosphere reserve. They had short excursion and enjoyed birdwatching with binoculars and it was a great place for teambuilding activities in peaceful nature.  In the evening, they divided in groups and had debates in variuos topics: about European Union, diversity, including bioderversity and the climate change impact, the ways to increase youth participation in school councils etc.

The second day morning was meant for inner peace building. Participants could chose between morning yoga session and short walk in the nature trail. Later they had group sessions about communication. The most cheerful activity was well-known game “Chinese whispers“ (in Lithuanian we call it “Broken telephone“).
